The Central Region Swimming Competition will be held on Sunday September 21, 2025 in Round Rock, Texas

Day of Volunteer Coordinator: Kimberly Davis

SOTX wants excited, passionate and eager volunteers to come support our amazing Swimming competition.

Is this your first time volunteering and not sure what to expect? Check out the information below!

WHAT TO EXPECT
1. YOU MUST PARK AT THE DELL DIAMOND AND TAKE THE SHUTTLE OVER TO WATERLOO SWIMMING. THERE IS NO PARKING AT WATERLOO SWIMMING. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
 
2.)Please arrive at the volunteer check in 15 mins prior to your assigned shift to get instructions and shown designated area.

3.) We will be providing water for all volunteers but bring a water bottle just in case we run out( FOOD WILL NOT BE PROVIDED)

4. Please wear comfortable active weather appropriate clothing. Please bring a shirt that represents your organization just in case we can't provide volunteer shirts.

Helping Setup Equipment needed for the swim meet.

First Aid
The First Aid Volunteer provides on-site medical support and basic first aid care to athletes, volunteers, and spectators throughout the event. This role is essential to maintaining a safe competition environment. Volunteers must hold a current CPR and First Aid certification (from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent) and present valid proof of certification to the Competition Director upon arrival.

Life Guards
As a Volunteer Lifeguard, you will provide vigilant water safety supervision during Special Olympics aquatics events. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of all athletes, coaches, and volunteers in and around the pool area. A current lifeguard certification is required, and proof must be presented to the Competition Director upon arrival.

Awards
As an Awards Presenter, you will help recognize and celebrate the achievements of Special Olympics athletes by assisting with the presentation of medals, ribbons, and awards. Your role is key in creating a joyful, respectful, and memorable experience for athletes, families, and spectators.

Facility Assistants
Helping ensure that trash cans do not overflow, that trash is picked up within the facility, and trash bags are replaced as needed. During this shift, volunteers are encouraged to watch the competition and cheer on the Athletes!

Small Pool volunteers will be either timing, collecting times and recording them, taking Athletes to awards after they compete, or assisting with staging of Athletes that will be competing in the small pool.

Volunteers will be assisting with calling Athletes' names and sitting them in the correct order (on benches or chairs), to prepare each heat of Athletes for their competition. This is a fast paced volunteer role, that requires vast communication at all times. Volunteers in this role will engage directly with the Special Olympics Athletes.

Staging Leaders - Round Rock Rotary Club
Volunteers will be assisting with calling Athletes' names and sitting them in the correct order (on benches or chairs), to prepare each heat of Athletes for their competition. This is a fast paced volunteer role, that requires vast communication at all times. Volunteers in this role will engage directly with the Special Olympics Athletes.
